Magnolia Advent Calendar Blog Hop

Hi everyone and I'm very happy to be hosting window sixteen of the Magnolia Advent Calendar blog hop today. I hope you've been enjoying it so far and all the beautiful creations of my design team friends. Magnolia are very generously giving away a prize every day in December and all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning  is leave a comment on this post and I'll randomly pick a winner in 24 hours. Once the winner has provided their details I'll send them to Magnolia so that they can send out the prize.

I decided to make an advent calendar for the blog hop as it's tradition to have one in our house every year. My usual calendar is shown in the photo's below and was made when my boys were small. I cross stitched it, sewed all the aida fabric together and mounted it on board and it usually hangs on a wall.

The new calendar was a KaiserKraft chipboard flat pack that I put together, painted with gesso and then covered all the little boxes with Magnolia papers and there's a small amount of SEI paper too. The numbers were painted with Ranger Picket Fence crackle paint and then attached to the boxes. For my centre panel I used a piece of 8 x 8 inch chipboard (it's a big calendar) also painted with gesso and then I sponged on my background scene. I did the mountains and sky by cutting a curvy shape into a sheet of printer paper and using both sides as masks for the sponging.  The trees were also sponged on using distress inks and then I added lots of glitter, cosmic shimmer glitter jewels and white rub 'n' buff.

Tilda in Christmas coat is painted with distress inks and cut out and the skaters were stamped onto shrink plastic, painted with distress inks and then shrunk down so that I could have them in the distance. I stamped Magnolia Christmas text stamps on a Magnolia Doo Hickey tag that I cut from white Bazzil card then added some rusty tin holly leaves, twine, little bells, a Marianne swirl die cut and some ribbon that I died with mica powder and distress ink and then wrinkled. To decorate the little ledge in front of the panel I glued on some sparkly twigs, mini tinsel and snowballs to finish off the scene.

Camilla added a lovely poem on her hosting day for the blog hop and I'd like to leave you with my favourite winter poem by Robert Frost which came to mind when I was making the panel.

Stopping by woods on a snowy evening : Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Thank you for reading to the end, it was a long post :), enjoy the rest of the blog hop and leave your comment  for the chance of a lovely prize from Magnolia.

Hi everyone, hope you’re having a good week so far. A Magnolia Easter DT project from me today which is this little Easter basket cut out on the cricut using a cut file from SVG Cuts using bazzil card and the lovely new spring Magnolia paper. Tilda with Chick is water coloured with distress inks, cut out, stickled and attached to the basket along with the cute little chick stamp and the tulip stamp which are also water coloured. The beautiful butterfly ribbon that I’ve wrapped around the handle is from the Magnolia shop along with the green roses, ribbon and feathers. The  basket turns out big enough to hold two tubes of Cadbury’s mini eggs :D. TFL.
I’m entering my card into:
Roses on Paper ‘Easter creation’
A spoon full of sugar ‘Easter’
The Pink Elephant ‘Spring’
Pile it on ‘Pastel colours’

Magnolia DT card

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
Hi everyone, hope you’ve had a good day today. Here’s another of my Magnolia DT cards this time featuring the gorgeous butterfly Tilda from Chasing Butterflies collection last spring and the little rose stamp. I’ve watercoloured her with distress inks, cut her out and and added little wire antennae and lots of stickles. The background card and papers were all sent by Magnolia so I’m afraid I don’t know the brands and all the flowers and leaves and dark blue ribbon are from Magnolia too. The blue scalloped circles were all cut with nestability dies and the one behind Tilda has been embossed with a CB swirls folder. They’ve all been sponged with white ink and stickled of course :D. I also used up a small piece of the vellum paper I made for my Magnolia chocolate box card for the bottom and I sprayed the background card under it so that there’s a bit of blue showing through.

I’m entering my card into these challenges:
Cupcake Challenges ‘flower power’
Stamp with Fun ‘spring’
By the cute and girly ‘spring’

Should be up to date soon hopefully so that I can catch up with what you’ve all been doing :D. TFL tt for now.

Hi everyone, hope the weekend is off to a good start for you. A card today for the next BasicGrey Challenge and this time there’s a lovely inspiration photograph as the theme. As always my DT friends have come up with some amazing cards so I hope you can join us. As always we’re sponsored by Simon Says Stamp with another great prize on offer as long as you include an item by BasicGrey.

I went with the yellow colour from the photograph and the little bunny on the shelf so I’ve used some paper from the Porcelain collection, which is so pretty with a lacey pattern and also some of the new Magnolia bunny paper. I’ve stamped the sweet Little Bunny Tilda from the new Magnolia Easter collection and she’s coloured with distress inks then cut out. The lace and white sparkly roses are by Magnolia as is the sentiment, the daffodils are from my stash. I just realised that I’ve left off the other two butterflies that were supposed to be in the middle panel :), will have to see to that later! Enjoy your Saturday and TFL.

Magnolia DT card

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
Hi everyone, hope you’re having a nice Sunday and hopefully some craft time :). A Magnolia DT card today using the gorgeous Honey Tilda, honey jar and bee stamps. I did some masking so that I could have Tilda sitting on the honey jar and she’s coloured with distress inks, glittered with some stickles then cut out and layered on a nestability die cut. The background paper is created using a mask over white bazzil card which I made and cut on the Cricut hopefully looking a bit like honeycomb? :) Used some chocolate and lemon glimmer mist to spray over the mask and then I over stamped with the bee stamp and brown ink. To decorate I added the ribbon which is also glimmer misted, the threaded buttons, clear copic spica glitter pen over Tilda’s clothes and the hand written Honey sentiment. TFL.

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone, I hope you’ve all been showered with love :)!

A card today for Just Magnolia Challenge and a theme of ‘Love’, Double Dutch where it’s ‘Be my Valentine’, Stamp with fun ‘Hearts’ and The Pink Elephant ‘Mushy, Gushy Valentine’.

I’ve stamped the ever so cute Ladybug Tilda and water coloured her with distress inks, cut her out with a nestabilities die, added lots of stickles, copic spica glitter pen and glossy accents to her spotty jacket. The background paper is also by Magnolia and I’ve faux stitched around the edges of it. There’s a border of white card with punched with the doily lace punch finished off and red dotted ribbon and to finish off I added the Magnolia ‘Loving Wishes’ sentiment which I cut in half after stamping and some clear gems.

Have a cosy evening and TFL.

Cuttlebug Challenge

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a good weekend. A card today for The Cuttlebug Challenge where the theme this time is to make a mask and use glimmer mist. For my mask I used a strip of paper that I’d previously punched some hearts from, placed it over the white heart doily die cut and sprayed it with Creme de chocolat glimmer mist, moved it up and sprayed again the embossed with the hearts cuttlebug folder. I stamped the gorgeous Amor Tilda and water coloured her with distress inks and then cut her out. There’s stickles dotted about and little pearls on her headband done with a Viva Decor pearl pen. The round card blank was cut on the Expression as was the scalloped heart doily and on the blank I’ve stamped with the Magnolia Love post and love heart stamps in old paper distress ink. The large heart is another die cut and the smaller one is from a Martha Stewart punch, both have been edged with walnut stain distress ink and then glittered with chunky glitter. A pretty ribbon, a Papermania sentiment and a few more pearl drops to finish. TFL and as always, thank you for the lovely comments you leave, I really do appreciate them very much.

JM Hearts and flowers, CCT 97 Blooming gorgeous, MTTCC Elegant rose, SCSC Hearts,

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
Hi everyone, hope you had a good weekend. A card today for four challenges :D, Just Magnolia is hearts, CCT is blooming gorgeous, MTTCC is elegant rose and SCSC is hearts, it’s not often I manage a multiple challenges!
I’ve used the absolutely gorgeous ‘Right through my heart’ Tilda from Raising the ceiling collection which I think is going to be available to buy here in the UK this week. Tilda is coloured with distress inks, glittered and gilded around the image edges and on her bow with gold embossing powder. The background paper is also by Magnolia and I embossed the edges of this too, it worked really well as the paper is a nice thick quality, almost like card. I die cut a nestability frame, sponged with gold ink and then cut off the top and bottom and added to the top and bottom of the image just underneath, I think she looks a bit Grecian and needed framing :). The bullseye circle and the sentiment are also Magnolia stamps and also embossed in gold. I added some criss crossed dotted ribbon too to finish off. TFL and thanks as always for your lovely comments which I hope to return as soon as I catch up with things.
