Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I hope you're enjoying a lovely Easter Day and I have my one and only Easter project to show today using the sweet Tilda with newly Hatched chicken from the Hoppy Easter Collection 2010. Tilda is coloured with pencils on kraft card and I've used the pretty Mini Magnolia butterfly paper in the background. There are die cut layers and a die cut frame and the Magnolia Easter sentiment is recessed. Theres lots of punched flowers, butterflies (it took a while :D) and paper daffodils, pearls and sparkle too.

To make my egg and egg cup I used a styrofoam egg and covered it in the flowers, made centres with a pearl pen and a little stand for it to sit in from a strip of paper made into a circle. Does it still look like an egg? I think it's lost it's overall shape because I made the little stand to place it in. I used a blossom from my miniature lilac bush in the background, it's so pretty, smells wonderful and is very early to flower this year.

I'm entering my project into PaperPlay Challenges with a theme of Easter time, Magnolia Stamp Lovers challenge of 'flowers' and Paper Sundeas Sunday Toppings where the toppings are sparkle, pearls, die cuts and yellow.

Enjoy the day and how much chocolate have you eater? :D

Flower Pot Tilda

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good week and if you're in the UK enjoying the gorgeous weather? A card today using the beautiful Flower Pot Tilda, definitely my favourite at the moment :) and this card was sent to my sweet friend Kim for her Birthday :), so now I can add it to my blog and scrape in on the challenge at Cute Card Thursday where the challenge is 'weather inspired' and I think Tilda is enjoying a spring walk in the countryside! The challenge at Stamptacular Sunday is 'use your favourite Magnolia stamp' so I'm entering that too.

I've also used the spring fence stamp and masked the two together. all the painting is done with distress inks and I've added some handmade fabric flowers, paper roses and embossed the card layers under the image with a Crafts Too butterfly embossing folder.

Enjoy your evening and thank you as always for your lovely comments.

Friday, 1 April 2011

Hi everyone, hope you've had a good week and thank goodness, it's nearly the weekend :). I'm entering my card today into the MDU Shabby Chic challenge and hopefully I have enough white for it to qualify, well there are lots of light colours anyway :D. I've used the sweet 'Tilda with daffodil' from the new collection and painted her with distress inks. The card has Webster's Pages paper and I cut the Doo Hickey tag from the paper too as I liked the sentiment.

Have a good Friday.

A spring walk

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. A card today for two challenges with a theme of spring time and anything goes. I've stamped and coloured Tilda with tulips and the little scene is freehand watercoloured and I hope springlike :). Mini Tilda with bouquet is wandering off into the distance, I think she has enough flowers :D

I used Go Kreate dies for the card shape and all the layers, the patterned paper is Webster's Pages 'Hollywood' and I dyed the seam binding with distress ink/mica powder mixture and also Ranger Perfect Pearls mist.

Thank you for your lovely comments and enjoy your weekend.

Tilda in the garden

Hi everyone! A card today with Tilda in the garden from the 'So Special' collection and I've water coloured her with distress inks, painted in a garden around her and added sparkle with some stickles glitter glue and a gold pearl pen. I cut out part of the pattern from a piece of Prima Annalee paper which I added top left and also cut some fabric with the Doo  Hickey lace die, coloured it with shimmer mist and attached over the background piece of embossed hearts and shimmer misted white card. Lots of pearl pens around the edges to finish off.

I'm entering my card into Totally Tilda Challenge where the theme this time is 'how does your garden grow'.

I hope you're having a good weekend :D

She's coloured with distress inks with lots of stickles added and then cut out with Nestabilities ovals. I've also used a couple of die cut and punched hearts embossed with a hearts embossing folder, a Magnolia Doo Hickey lace die and a pearly heart embellishment. Magnolia Advent Calendar Blog Hop

Hi everyone and I'm very happy to be hosting window sixteen of the Magnolia Advent Calendar blog hop today. I hope you've been enjoying it so far and all the beautiful creations of my design team friends. Magnolia are very generously giving away a prize every day in December and all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning  is leave a comment on this post and I'll randomly pick a winner in 24 hours. Once the winner has provided their details I'll send them to Magnolia so that they can send out the prize.

I decided to make an advent calendar for the blog hop as it's tradition to have one in our house every year. My usual calendar is shown in the photo's below and was made when my boys were small. I cross stitched it, sewed all the aida fabric together and mounted it on board and it usually hangs on a wall.

The new calendar was a KaiserKraft chipboard flat pack that I put together, painted with gesso and then covered all the little boxes with Magnolia papers and there's a small amount of SEI paper too. The numbers were painted with Ranger Picket Fence crackle paint and then attached to the boxes. For my centre panel I used a piece of 8 x 8 inch chipboard (it's a big calendar) also painted with gesso and then I sponged on my background scene. I did the mountains and sky by cutting a curvy shape into a sheet of printer paper and using both sides as masks for the sponging.  The trees were also sponged on using distress inks and then I added lots of glitter, cosmic shimmer glitter jewels and white rub 'n' buff.

Tilda in Christmas coat is painted with distress inks and cut out and the skaters were stamped onto shrink plastic, painted with distress inks and then shrunk down so that I could have them in the distance. I stamped Magnolia Christmas text stamps on a Magnolia Doo Hickey tag that I cut from white Bazzil card then added some rusty tin holly leaves, twine, little bells, a Marianne swirl die cut and some ribbon that I died with mica powder and distress ink and then wrinkled. To decorate the little ledge in front of the panel I glued on some sparkly twigs, mini tinsel and snowballs to finish off the scene.

Camilla added a lovely poem on her hosting day for the blog hop and I'd like to leave you with my favourite winter poem by Robert Frost which came to mind when I was making the panel.

Stopping by woods on a snowy evening : Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Thank you for reading to the end, it was a long post :), enjoy the rest of the blog hop and leave your comment  for the chance of a lovely prize from Magnolia.

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good start to the weekend and not freezing too much! Another fortnight has rolled by (where do they go?) and it's time for another challenge on BasicGrey Challenges.

From the blog:

For this fortnights Challenge we would like you to use the following Recipe :)
4 Different Types of Embellishments(You can have as many of each type as you wish, as long as there are 4 different kinds, for example Ribbon, Pearls, Flowers, Charms etc etc)
3 Different Patterned Papers
(You can have as many plain matting papers as you wish, just as long as there are 3 patterned papers)
1-2 Images and/or 1-2 Sentiments(You can choose to have up to 2 in either of these, or even both if you wish)
Don't forget though, to be eligible to win the fab prize for this challenge you MUST use at least one item from BasicGrey somewhere on your creation, it would also be helpful if you could state on your post what that item is, makes it easier for us you see :)

My DT friends have made some gorgeous cards for inspiration and as always there's a lovely prize from our sponsor Simon Says Stamp, I hope you can join us.

For my card I've used the gorgeous Snowy hug from the Magnolia 'Merry Little Christmas' collection which I've water coloured with distress inks and cut out using a nestabilities labels die. I've used the die as a template to make the mats under the image in pink glitter card and paper from BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses collection, I also used these for the rest of  the card to make up my three papers for the recipe. The snowflakes are a combination of Martha Stewart and Woodware  punches and I've used glitter, gems and ribbon as well to make up my four types of embellishments.

Have a lovely Saturday.

Hi everyone, hope your weekend is off to a good start! A Magnolia card today with the sweet sledging Edwin from the Christmas collection last year and one that I didn't get the chance to use at the time. I've coloured Edwin with distress inks and cut him out and then layered him over a background cut on the Cricut from white card. The Snow sentiment was also cut on the Cricut and then layered up in white and blue card. I added lots of stardust stickles to finish off.

Magnolia have some news which is about the re-design of the Inspiration Blog happening on 1st December so I'm looking forward to seeing it. Magnolia Ink is also going to have a new design from next year.

Wicked

Hi everyone and wishing a very spooky All Hallows Eve :)! Here's Tilda flying off to play her part in Wicked and she's got her green make-up on too :). I painted her with distress inks, cut her out and then placed on top of a distress ink background wash where I've added some building shapes to the bottom. The papers are all by Magnolia and I've die cut the word Wicked with the Tim Holtz Market die and covered it with stickles. The moon is cut with Nestabilities circles and then embossed with a stars embossing folder and I've made a drippy spiders web with stickles too. The papers are distressed with paint and I've used an MS border punch. I followed Heather's sketch for BG challenges this week which I loved and I hope to have my card on for that in the next few days.

I'm entering this card into Magnolia Down Under challenge where the theme is Halloween inspired.
Have a spooky evening!
